my dearest kapatid.
i know you are enjoying your higschool years and anticipating love everywhere, of course, highschool is the time for secrets, friendships, crushes, "love" and relationships.I understand that you try your best to study when in reality you can't help but think of your crush. You try to be trifty just to be able to buy load so you can text and update your friends about your latest woes and stories. I know that you cherish facebook more than your books because facebook lets you be more than who you are. It can give you car (car town), farm (farm ville) and more importantly, it can give you friends. I understand my dear sister because I was in that stage too.
I know the feeling of being surrounded by people or couples that are in love. I too asked the question on when will I receive a bouquet of roses or a big teddy bear. I also longed for someone who would walk hand in hand with me at school or at the mall, just like my friends. Well, I also dreamt of a boyfriend who will be okay with Mom and Dad, who can visit me at home and spend time with me. I know how you feel.
But dear sister. Let me give you a piece of advice coming from my experiences of heartbreaks and disappointments. I hope that you will learn a thing or two from your ate who survived not because I am strong but because GOD never let me down.
1. Believe in GOD. Baby. With all the problems that our family had been through I cried them all to GOD. Usually, I write letters to Him containing my feelings, how disappointed I am, how mad I was or how hurt I was and well, He never failed to comfort me. He wouldn't fail you too.
2. Respect Mom and Dad. Probably Dad is teasing you alot like what he was used to do when I was growing up, annoying me here and there and Mom is making you do chores that you dont want then spanking or punishing you whenever you fail to follow her instructions. Believe me, they are just training you for the real world. They are just teaching us to be more responsible on little things like putting our dirty clothes in the laundry bag so we can be responsible on bigger things, like taking care of the house and finishing our requirements in school.
3. Enjoy Education and Study Well. Baby, we are privileged to be able to study at schools with quality education. Do not waste it by being addicted to facebook or by being too busy with barkada. Enjoy learning and make our parents feel that we are doing our best to compensate the efforts they are making just to provide us education. Judy, study well and study hard.
4. Lastly, guard your heart. It is easy to have crushes and fall in love but believe me maintaining the relationship is not an easy thing. Commitment is a very strong word. Try not to be blinded by sparkling eyes and to be taken by sweet words because real life is not like the movies or fairytales where a prince will sweep you of your feet.
In reality, before you can live your happily ever after, you have to ensure that you are unbruised, untainted, pure and complete because it would be a very long way to go. You are still in highschool.
Try not to make the same mistakes that I did but if you cannot help it, please do promise me that you will keep yourself pure until the right time you meet your prince charming. Save the kisses for the right one because he is worth the wait.
Kapatid. Ate loves you soooo much and I am so sorry that I have to be miles away from you that I won't be able to see you grow but just like a little bird, you have to spread out your wings and fly on your own. Come out of my shadow and stop comparing yourself to your ate. We are different but I guarantee you, YOU ARE VERY SPECIAL.
I love you but GOD loves you more. :)
